Maui Sunseeker LGBT Resort - Kihei, Hawaii, HI 96753, United States

Words from our guests...

"If you want a relaxed environment that matches the laid back atmosphere of Maui, and you are gay or gay- friendly, then the Maui Sunkseeker is the place you want to make your trip perfect. The location across from the beach in Kihei is an excellent location. The resort is beautifully landscaped and the whole staff is very friendly and helpful with suggestions for enjoying the island. We were coming to Maui for a beach wedding and the Sunseeker staff put us in contact with the wedding planners and helped with the planning of our leisure activities as well. We stayed in 113 which provided a wonderful ocean view. The rooms and the resort are obviously in the process of renovation and we look forward to coming back In the future to see the changes. We ended our trip In a 5-star resort on Oahu, and I can honestly say we enjoyed the laid back feel of the Sunseeker and Maui much more."

"The Sunseeker was nice and clean, staff was friendly and accommodating. I was able to check in early too! The location is very convenient and I loved the fact there was an ice maker in the refrigerator in the room. Bed was nice and comfortable. I was in a Junior Suite."

"Wonderful, friendly staff and beautiful property. We had a wonderful visit, and stayed in room 422. This was an oversized "standard" room located directly over the office and adjoining to the 400 Building Penthouse. Beautifully decorated and great space. The shower is oversized and even has a built in bench. Beautiful views and sunsets from the balcony or from the rooftop deck. Very friendly guests, and a wonderful time overall. We will definitely be back."

"We spent a week at the Sunseeker in March and had a terrific time. Our one-bedroom suite opened onto the pool. The room was just right for us, nicely decorated and very comfortable. The hot tub was around the corner, which was very convenient. The grounds are well landscaped and the rooftop gathering area is a fine place to meet people, especially at sunset, because it looks directly west. But like so many others, we felt it was the staff that made the Sunseeker a great place to stay. They were friendly, helpful and did everything they could to make our visit enjoyable and hassle free. We liked the Sunseeker so much that we've already booked a return visit!"

"From check in to our maid service this place is great! The digs aren't flashy but the bed is really comfy and the room clean! We don't come from a damp climate and had purchased some snacks for our room not knowing they can get mushy. The first day after cleaning our maid had bagged all the snacks so they wouldn't get damp. I love little touches like that. The clientele was great when we stayed here. Down to earth and everyone so friendly. I've stayed at a lot of LGBT resorts and this one warrants a return trip at some point in our future!"

"My partner and I just spent our second time at Sunseeker and it was better than the first time. The new pool and hot tub area are great! Our room (621) was super private and quiet although we missed having a balcony. The staff are awesome and the location can't be beat. As always, it's a great place to meet other LGBT people from around the world."

We had the most incredible time at Maui Sunseeker. Four weddings the weekend we were there and then 2 more before we departed. We had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people that i am assured we will remain in contact with going forward. The facility is immaculate, the staff friendy and incredibly accommodating! We could not have imagined a better time in our rocking garden view room. Thank you Micheal and Robin and we will be back sooner than later."

"My partner & I made plans to be married in Maui. The staff at Maui Sunseeker were great in helping to plan this most wonderful time in our lives. They made the activities for us. They were always there when we needed an answer--even before we left for Maui. The staff is truly wonderful and always ready to give helpful information about dining, events, travel on the island and finding gay friendly companies for us. The entire staff always had a smile on their faces. We had a junior suite with ocean views and waking to the sounds of crashing waves was spectacular. We made our reservations for next year before we even left for home."

"Have been to Maui many times and decided to stay at the Maui Sunseeker for some LGBT R&R for 6 days 2nd half of Jan. Overall, great staff, great location, great (and quiet) room. Would definitely recommend it...and look forward to returning the next time on the island. The owner recommended Coconuts for dinner (a few mins away), which was awesome!"

"Clean rooms, quiet and beautiful grounds, professional staff. I always felt I had a sense of space and the palm trees are beautiful. I do love that there are no kids or teens staying there - its a very grown up environment. They offer free use of BBQ grills, and even beach chairs, sun tan lotion, laundry detergent which is sweet and generous. I highly recommend anyone staying there"

"Sunseeker is a really good hotel and we would stay there again. My husband and I went for five nights. I think we were the only heterosexual couple staying at the time, yet we felt perfectly comfortable the whole time. The other clients did not seem at all put off by the fact that we weren't gay. The staff was great, very welcoming and full of ideas when we asked for advice."

"Very nice and friendly resort" Very friendly and accommodating staff. We were in Room 326, a junior suite, it was clean, zquite and well equipped for morning coffee, prepare a lunch for the beach and to cook a light dinner. Room 326 is only a few steps to the pool, one of the 4 BBQ grills and the roof deck to take in the great sunsets.
My biggest compliment was the flexibility to change dates, I needed to change my reservation a couple of times due to my treatment schedule, Joe could not have been more helpful even though I cancelled less than a week before I was scheduled to arrive at the SunSeeker. Mike the GM made a point to say hi everyday he even gave a us a tour of the new building that will house the new office, cafe and a fantastic suite with a killer view.
See you next year, thanks

"The Most Welcoming Place I've Ever Stayed!" As the name of this hotel states, this is a LGBT resort, so before arriving, I wondered if I would feel awkward since I'm a straight girl. You know, "One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong...." (Sesame Street song!). Immediately upon arriving, I was made to feel not only welcomed, but also a treasured guest. Throughout my week stay I got to know most of the staff by first names and never went a day without someone making sure that my time there was enjoyable. Personal attention and fine detail separate this hotel from any other I've stayed. No cookie-cutter rooms here, as each room has it's own unique and tasteful interior decor. A well stocked kitchen and a very comfortable bed (I'm like the Princess and the Pea so bed comfort is a must!) further added to my positive experience. The roof top is super inviting with a beautiful view of the ocean sunset and the pool and hot tub are just the right size for an intimate gathering of friends. If all this wasn't enough, my room was literally steps away from what I called, "My own private beach." I know, I know, I was quite spoiled!

"Everyone at The Maui Sunseeker - each and everyone of you. Thank you so much for a great 9+ days of sheer bliss. What this place provides for it's ardent customers is not easy to describe in words. For the simple and down to earth people who manage and keep Sunseeker such a joyful place to be at, and the fact that it is being so very well taken care of and that it's expanding with such grace - thank you to each and everyone of you lovely people! This my 2nd straight year here and I sincerely cannot wait to be here, back next year. Thank you once again. Lots of Love, Vic xx"

"Hello Chuck, Michael, Bob, Joe & Housekeeping staff, You folks did an awesome job! I felt relaxed the whole time I was there and enjoyed using Maui Sunseeker as a base for my adventures. I was not at all freaked out by the water pipe break and glad for the sake of water conservation that I am the only gay man in a hundred mile radius who actually likes being an early riser. Thank you for the invitation to social events! As I just started dating someone here in California, I wanted to save "that" adventure for time here in SoCal. Blessings. I will be recommending you to my GLBT friends traveling to Maui. Best Regards, Mark (Mahalo Mark...So glad you were an early rise that morning to alert us to the 5am water line break)."

"We stayed in suite 613 for a week in February 2013 and met some truly great people we hope to see more of in the future. In addition, your team of Sunseeker employees were charning, professional and helpful. Sunseeker is the perfect home base to explore the many sites Maui has to offer. Thank you, Robert"

"I'm neither L, G, B or T, but this was my favorite stay of my time in Maui. You simply cant beat this value - the room, location, grounds, and amenities for this price? Insane. I wish I booked my whole trip here."

"Spent four lovely nights in the Penthouse suite at this friendly and well appointed hotel. The suite overlooks the beach and has its own Jacuzzi right on the lanai so you can soak and watch the stars. Includes a comfortable king sized futon type bed, jetted tub and large shower amply stocked with towels, dressing room, full kitchen and dining area, living room with DVD and cable. Audio was disc only - we wished for an ipod input but that was the only flaw (will bring a mini cable next time)! Around the back there's an area full of beach chairs, snorkels, masks and boogie boards for loan plus a laundry facility. The beach is across the street which meant cars going by, but it really quieted down at night. Staff provided maps to other beaches and happy to help book extra tours etc. I liked that it was reasonably close to shops and restaurants - but not too close! Also there are a few farm stands nearby to stock up on papayas and fresh veggies. Although it is an LBGT resort, everyone is welcome."

"We arrived in Maui a day early and needed to find a last minute place to stay that wasn't outrageously priced. This place had a room and we booked it right away. While we are not part of the LGBT community we are "awesome adults" (an ad read that way. lol) and were welcomed to very friendly, hospitable hosts! The location is just across the street from the ocean so you've gotta love that! The room was small but comfy, clean and decorated quite nicely. Don't feel you need to be part of the LGBT community to stay here, so long as you're an awesome, cool adult you will love it!! I would stay here again, really great hosts, a nice clean room and a good location! Thanks Maui Sunseeker!"
Bmodgirl-Trip Advisor - February 2013

"If you had a chance to see the "Hotel Impossible" episode earlier this year when Anthony Melchiorri and his crew visited the Sunseeker, made suggestions and helped with the remodel of a suite, you know what the owners had to go through. And apparently they not only made it through the tapings, but they also took the suggestions to heart and carried out the improvements throughout the hotel.

I stayed in a one-bedroom suite right off the pool. The suite was spotless, the furnishings looked new, the bathroom was full of fluffy towels and the bedroom sported one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in.

Melchiorri can be a gruff guy, but if you watch the show and see property owners take heed of his advice you'll realize that he's very smart at what he does. If you'd like a more inside look at how the reality show covered the Sunseeker, they have a great FAQ page on their website

I get over to Maui at least twice a year (I live in Honolulu) and I'll definitely plan on staying at the Sunseeker in the future."
Mark - February 2013

"Amazing customer service! Wonderful rooms and only a few steps away from the beach! Will come back here again!"
Frankie - February 2013

"This is my second stay at Sunseeker and my first time traveling alone. Ownership has changed and with it a lot of renovation and expansion. The site now spans what was 3 separate properties. The unit I was in had modest renovations with the most changes seen in the original building. These aren't luxury accommodations, but simple and tasteful and very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the small size makes it a great way to meet your neighbors. The new jacuzzi area means it's open all night and it's amazing to sit there at night and look up at the stars in a tropical setting."
